About RootNook

RootNook is a seasonal home and garden magazine written for real homes, real apartments, and the people who care for them.

RootNook began with a simple observation: most home content is written for people with a big house, a big budget, and a full Saturday crew. Most of us have a small space, a modest budget, and one weekend. The ideas here are written for that second group.

What we write about

We cover five areas, tied to the season: thegarden, indoor plants, small spaces, home organization, andhome improvement. Every article earns its place by being practical, specific, and honest about what it takes. We do not sell aspirational rooms. We show the work.

The editor

Portrait of Julia Reyes

Julia Reyes is the editor of RootNook. Julia writes about gardens, small spaces, and the quiet work of making a house feel like home. She gardens in Zone 7b and owns more houseplants than she will admit. She has written about homes and gardens for over a decade, and she gardens in Zone 7b, where the soil teaches humility every spring.

How we stay independent

RootNook is reader-supported. We occasionally include affiliate links, clearly marked on each article, and we are always transparent about it in our affiliate disclosure. We never publish paid placements that look like editorial, and we never sell your data. Our privacy policy is one page for a reason.
